The color of a dog’s stool can tell a great deal about the condition of his health. It may vary depending upon the current state of his health. Knowing which poop color stands for what will enable you take immediate steps in ensuring the maximum health of your pet.
Know These Dog Poop Color
Normal Poop
The color of a dog’s poop depends on many factors such as breed, age, climate, nutrition, etc. Thus, the color may vary due to these factors. However, a healthy dog with no health issues would discharge poop of brown color irrespective of food being served to him.
Green Poop
Green poop indicate that you dog is eating lot of grass. Consult your vet to know the exact reason behind this and get him treated. In most cases, a pet eating grass is seen as sign of GI upset.
Yellow Poop
Yellow color stool signifies a problem related to your pet’s diet. Change in pet’s diet or introducing any new ingredient to your dog’s plate may cause stomach upset and thus leading to yellowish poop color.
Red Streaks
This is not a healthy condition for your pet. It indicates bleeding in the GI tract. Visit your vet along with the sample of your pet’s stool for full treatment of your dog. The vet will examine the feces of your pet to know the reason for passing of the blood. He may advise you to put your pet on a healthy diet and protect him from parasitic infection through flea preventives such as Frontline Plus, etc.
Black Poop
If your furry pal is passing black poop or tarry black, it may be due to stomach ulcer or problem in the small intestine. Consult your vet for treatment.
White Spots In the Stool
White specs in the stool are indicative of worm infection in the pet. See you vet and use wormers such as Popantel for deworming your pet.
The color of your pet’s stool has a lot to do with food being served to him. Thus, feed your dog the best quality food and protect him from external and internal infection through flea preventives and wormers. Consult your vet if you suspect anything serious.
