Nexgard Combo is an anti-parasitic monthly spot-on treatment used to treat both internal and external parasites in cats. Nexgard combo treats external parasites like fleas, ticks, ear mites or skin mites, and internal intestinal parasites like hookworms, tapeworms and roundworms. It can also be used to treat lungworms that infect the bladder. Nexgard combo also prevents heartworms and can be used as part of the management of flea allergy dermatitis.
Nexgard Combo contains three main ingredients, Esafoxolaner, Eprinomectin and Praziquantel, which work in different ways to kill external and internal parasites.
Esafoxolaner, being an ectoparasiticide, works on the external parasites that live on the fur of the cat. It interrupts the neurotransmission of the external parasites, resulting in uncontrolled activity of the parasite’s nervous system and death.
The other two ingredients, Eprinomectin and Praziquantel, are endoparasiticides. They work on the internal parasites that live inside the cat’s body. Prazoquantel kills tapeworms by damaging their cell membranes, and Eprinomectin kills roundworms by paralyzing their nervous systems.
Note: NexGard Combo is safe to use on cats older than 8 weeks of age.

The formula impacts ectoparasites such as fleas and ticks as soon as these parasites take a blood meal. At the same time, it acts on endoparasites through oral absorption or transcuticular/integument absorption, according to the worm species.
Inhibits ligand-gated chloride channels; blocks pre-& post-synaptic transfer of chloride ions causing uncontrolled nervous system activity & death of acarines.
Increases the permeability of the cell membrane to chloride ions, triggering hyperpolarization of nerve or muscle cells leading to paralysis & death of the parasite.
Not exactly known. Treated tapeworms experience muscular paralysis together with a rapid influx of calcium ions & the disruption of the tegument.
