The efficacy of this product is very well known to the people who have already used it on their pets. However, there are still many questions and dilemmas that surround the usage or effectiveness of Frontline Plus. Most of them come from new pet parents but they are genuine and must be addressed. This brief insight on Frontline Plus will clear any skepticism associated with the product, so, read on.

What is Frontline Plus?

Frontline Plus is a highly effective topical formula that treats fleas and ticks in dogs and cats. The swift action of Frontline Plus destroys all the adult fleas within 12 hours and 100% ticks and chewing lice in 48 hours. Not just this, Frontline Plus kills 4 types of ticks (Brown dog ticks, Deer ticks, American dog ticks, and Lone star ticks) that cause Lyme disease, Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, etc with a single application. Moreover, it disrupts the complete lifecycle of fleas by destroying their eggs and larvae which prevents the infestation from recurring. Its non-stop action and waterproof formula thus keep dogs protected for 30 days.

How does Frontline Plus work?

Frontline Plus contains two powerful ingredients Fipronil and s-methoprene. Fipronil acts as an insecticide which attacks the nervous system of the parasite and disrupts their nerve signals. This makes them immobile and eventually kills them. S-methoprene, on the other hand, is an insect growth regulator (IGR) that stops the parasites from reproducing by disrupting their lifecycle. This simultaneous action of both the ingredients thus completely prevents the fleas and ticks from re-infesting the pet after they have been treated with Frontline Plus.

Do fleas and Ticks have to bite the Pet for Frontline Plus to work?

No, it is not necessary. Frontline Plus kills the parasites when the ingredients come in contact with the fleas or ticks through the pet’s fur coat.

After Applying Frontline Plus, you still See Fleas in Your House?

Well, even after using Frontline Plus if the fleas are not completely eliminated from the house, it means the eggs of fleas were already present in the environment before you treated your pet. However, with regular use of Frontline Plus for the entire year, the infestation can be eliminated completely. Also, you must consider vacuuming your house weekly to eliminate any flea eggs or larvae that fall of the pet.

How long after application can my pet bathe or swim?

Frontline Plus is a waterproof formula and thus once the solution is dry, your pet can bathe or swim without losing its efficacy. However, it is advisable to wait for at least 24 hours after the application, to let the solution dry completely.

Can Frontline Plus be used on other pets besides cats and dogs?

No, you should not use Frontline Plus to treat any other pet other than dogs and cats. Every product is formulated according to the weight and size of the pet and thus has different concentrations of active ingredients. Hence, you must not use the product interchangeably between different pets.

How old your pet should be in order to apply Frontline Plus?

Dogs above 8 weeks of age can be safely treated with Frontline Plus.  However, make sure you do not apply the solution more than once a month as drug overdose can cause severe complications in your pet.
